Search And Rescue (SAR)

This will be the  introduction page for Search And Rescue Special Operations.

Following is a suggested format for pilots to report the missions in which they participated.

In keeping with the History Hanger suggestion, I am passing on to you my logbook data regarding Search and Rescue missions flown on 400 Sqn Otters.
Cheers,
Barry Stewart

A young man decided to swim Lake Ontario. His backup team were 2 friends in a boat. They lost sight of the swimmer, named "McNeil". One float Otter and a few wheel Otters were scrambled to look for the swimmer, which meant flying single engine over water. We wore life vests. As far as I know, the body was never recovered.

There may have been other SAR missions during my time flying the Otter (1972 to 1977) but these are the only SAR missions I was involved with.
