The de Havilland Canada DHC-3 Otter flew with the Reserves from 1960 to 1980 from RCAF Station Downsview.  The aircraft was a short-range light transport that could be equipped with skis and amphibious floats.  The squadron was capable of several missions including deployments to the Arctic and Army support.  The Squadron was always on stand-by for vital search and rescue missions which were flown throughout Ontario.

In the diorama, an Otter, in an early colour and marking scheme, has located a very-crashed Cessna 172.  The 1/72 scale Otter kit is by Hobbycraft and is mainly unmodified but with adjusted markings, antenna and mast rigging, antistatic tails (14), top and bottom anticollision lights, wing-tip lights, starboard side entrance-door step, ski anti-vibration dampers, cockpit steps, and ski rigging.

The crashed 1/72 scale Cessna 172 kit is by Eidai and is mainly unmodified but with all flying surfaces (Ailerons, rudder, flaps, and elevators) cut free and set to a forced landing configuration.  The water is a double mix by Envirotech.  Trees, grass, and animals are by Woodland Scenics
