Ferris, James Bently - Flying Officer - Pilot (1943) MIA

Flying Officer Ferris (Serial # J10785) was from 
WawanesaMB and was k
illed 20 January 1943 at age 26.   He was the son of Charlotte Ferris, of Wawanesa, Manitoba, Canada.

He is commemorated on Page 158 of the Second World War Book of Remembrance.  [CLICK HERE FOR AN IMAGE OF THIS PAGE] 


F/O Ferris was flying a Mustang aircraft (#AG589) when shot down, during a shipping patrol, by an RNZAF Typhoon aircraft ten miles off St. Catherines Point, Isle of Wright.  His body was picked up by a British Royal Navy vessel and was buried at sea twenty miles south of St. Catherines Point.  




F/O Ferris has no known grave and his name is inscribed on the Runnymede War Memorial, Englefield Green, Egham, SurreyEngland.
