CHAMBERS, G. Donald (Flight Lieutenant)  B.A.,LL.B (Veteran WW II)

After a Valiant battle and with great courage and dignity, it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Don on Thursday, March 17, 2011, in his 87th year.

Sadly missed by the love of his life, his adored wife Joyce of 60 years. Cherished father of Holly (Kevin), Geoff (Karen) and Robert (Laurie). He will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Meghan (Todd), Gregg (Carly), Samantha (Mark), Kaihley (Brandon), Loghan, Nate and Evie Rose. Predeceased by his much loved grandson Gary. Loving son of the late Grace and Stanley Chambers of Dunnville. Fondly remembered by the family of his late brother Stan, Carrie, Doug, Jade and families. He will be dearly missed by his many friends (especially the Bridge Club), colleagues and legion comrades. At this time we especially wish to thank, Peggy Marshall for being our rock through the years.

Don lived his life in service to others. He was a proud veteran of WW11 and served with both the RCAF 400 Squadron and the RAF Pathfinder Squadron 156 as a navigator on the Lancaster Bombers. He has been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 142 Dunnville for 65 years where he enjoyed many evenings of euchre with his comrades. Returning from the war, Don attended University of Toronto and began his career as a lawyer. Don was a member of the Haldimand Bar Association and the Ontario Law Society for over 50 years. He served on the Legal Aid Committee, and contributed to the community with his work with the Children's Aid Society and the Dunnville Chamber of Commerce. He was elected to the Haldimand Board of Education as Trustee for 16 years. He represented Haldimand Norfolk as a delegate and was long term member of the Ontario Liberal Association.

Funeral service was held at the Ballard Minor Funeral Home, 315 Broad St. E., Dunnville, on Monday, March 21, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. Cremation followed. Donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation or Royal Canadian Legion Branch 142 would be appreciated.
